Past and Present

Sat in the wild beauty of the North York Moors National Park, the Blacksmiths is a recognised landmark. It started life as 16th Century farmhouse, reputedly built from the stone of the nearby Rosedale Priory after it was closed under the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1535. Over the last 2 centuries it has been a inn, with the original farm stables converted into the bar - thankfully any smell of the beasts is long gone.

Today, the Blacksmiths is a cosy hotel, with 19 en-suite bedrooms, bar, lounges, snug and restaurant. You’ll still find some of the heritage of the building on show, with open fires and exposed beams, but we have coupled that with comfy beds, good food and even some wifi.

So whether you are looking for a base to explore North Yorkshire or just passing-by and need a refreshment stop we would be delighted to welcome you to the Blacksmiths at Hartoft.
